We have started implementing and testing this feature. We expect it to be released in the next major update.
Additionally, we have adjusted how text outlines are rendered to increase contrast. This change is live now.

Thank you for your suggestion! We currently use a black outline to help improve contrast but understand that this can be hard to read and can be improved. We will work on adding more flexibility to the color, size, and style of the text overlays in the future.
